Scrubslide, Scrub Island, BVI

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice! The Frozen Scrubslide will Delight!

While exploring the breathtaking British Virgin Islands, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that perfectly sums up the spirit of the Caribbean—the Scrubslide cocktail. Nestled on the pristine shores of Scrub Island, this tropical delight is a testament to the island’s laid-back luxury and vibrant flavors.

During my stay at Scrub Island, I was looking for a drink that would always remind me of this island paradise. Enter the Scrubslide—a creamy, decadent cocktail that combines the warmth of Caribbean spices with the richness of tropical flavors. This drink is a local favorite, and it’s easy to see why after just one sip.

I headed to the pool bar late one morning and introduced myself to the bartender, Stacy. I wanted to try a few house specialties, so I ordered several drinks: the Scrubslide, Basil Shores, and Scrub Island Spiced Tea.

The Scrubslide is more than just a cocktail; it’s an experience. The combination of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Kahlua, Amaretto, Vodka, and Cream of Coconut creates a velvety smooth texture that’s both indulgent and refreshing. Each ingredient plays its part, blending perfectly to create a comforting and delicious drink.

Its creamy texture and perfectly balanced flavors make it an ideal dessert cocktail, but it’s equally enjoyable any time of day. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, celebrating a special occasion, or simply unwinding after a day of island adventures, the Scrubslide is the perfect companion.

Ingredients you’ll need to make a Scrubslide

Scrub Island Scrubslide Ingredients
Tropical Cocktail Scrubslide Ingredients
  • Vodka
  • Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • Kahula Coffee Liqueur
  • Amaretto Disaronno
  • Cream of Coconut
  • Garnish: Straw, Chocolate Syrup, Whipped Cream, Ground Nutmeg, Maraschino Cherry

Tips

Absolut is a good, mid-priced Vodka, but Tito’s and Ketel One are also popular.

I always buy Kahlua coffee-flavored liqueur when coffee is the drink’s main ingredient. However, you can purchase a less expensive coffee liqueur when mixing it with other liquors. I feel the same way about the Amaretto Disaronno.

Bar Tools

Here is an awesome product to help YOU make the most incredible drinks. Impress your family and friends and be the BEST Cocktail Barista in your neighborhood.

Martini or cocktail, a good shake makes all the difference in the world so buying a cocktail shaker can seriously step up your at-home drink game. Think about it: no more settling for boring mixed drinks when you can whip up bar-quality cocktails in your kitchen. It’s not just about the fancy presentation (although that’s a fun bonus) but also about how it makes mixing drinks easier and more fun.

I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!

Plus, once you get the hang of shaking, you’ll feel like a total pro, impressing your friends and yourself with your newfound bartending skills. So why not add a little shake, shake, shake to your life and upgrade your happy hour?
