The Blue Passion Island Cocktail – Your Passport to Paradise in a Glass
If there’s one thing I love about traveling, it’s discovering new cocktails in beautiful places—and the Blue Passion is an island drink I’ll never forget. I first tasted this tropical gem at the Scrub Island Resort in the breathtaking British Virgin Islands. With turquoise waters around me and a warm breeze in the air, the Bartender handed me a cocktail that shimmered like the Caribbean Sea and tasted like a beach party in paradise.
The Blue Passion is as fun as its name suggests. This vibrant tropical drink gets its electric hue from Blue Curaçao and Hpnotiq. At the same time, passion fruit juice adds a tangy twist that instantly transports you to the islands. Vodka and a splash of pineapple tie it all together for a refreshingly smooth, slightly exotic cocktail that’s as easy to sip as it is to fall in love with.

Signature Drinks from Scrub Island Resort, BVI
One morning, I headed to the Scrub Island, BVI pool bar, early enough that the Bartender was still setting up for the day. I wanted to taste and photograph some tropical cocktail house specialties, so I introduced myself to Stacy, the Bartender.
I ordered 3 drinks from the menu that caught my attention: the Scrubslide, Scrub Island Spiced Tea, and Basil Shores. Stacy asked if I was going to drink all of them?! I told her not to worry; I planned to taste and photograph the tropical cocktails.

I then explained to her that I had a blog and wanted to highlight exotic cocktails of the BVIs. At that point, Stacy suggested I try the Blue Passion drink she had created. It was everything an exotic tropical cocktail should be.

Blue Passion Tropical Cocktail Ingredients

- Vodka
- Hpnotiq
- Blue Curacao
- Passion Fruit Juice (I picked up the wrong bottle – oops)
- Pineapple Juice
- Simple Syrup (not shown)
Tips
Use good quality spirits. The better the ingredients, the better your cocktail will taste. I like to use either Stoli (Stolichnaya), Absolut, or Ketel One Vodka for mixed drinks. They are good-quality, mid-priced vodkas.
You can add more pineapple juice to naturally sweeten the cocktail, but doing so will change the drink’s color from blue-green to green.

Bar Tools
Here is an awesome product to help YOU make the most incredible drinks. Impress your family and friends and be the BEST Cocktail Barista in your neighborhood.
Martini or cocktail, a good shake makes all the difference in the world so buying a cocktail shaker can seriously step up your at-home drink game. Think about it: no more settling for boring mixed drinks when you can whip up bar-quality cocktails in your kitchen. It’s not just about the fancy presentation (although that’s a fun bonus) but also about how it makes mixing drinks easier and more fun.
I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!
Plus, once you get the hang of shaking, you’ll feel like a total pro, impressing your friends and yourself with your newfound bartending skills. So why not add a little shake, shake, shake to your life and upgrade your happy hour?
The Right Glass Matters
A high-quality highball glass is indispensable, offering versatility for a wide range of cocktails and enhancing the enjoyment of every drink with its durability and style.
