Easy Ransom Note Martini
I’m a Vodka drinker but I love this easy Ransom Note Martini recipe made with Gin and Mead, originally from the Gramercy Tavern. It is so smooth and refreshing and it doesn’t have that Gin Martini bite.
So I was shopping in Charleston, SC and went into the Savannah Bee Company shop. In the back they had a nice selection of Mead, something that I haven’t had since my last trip to Ireland, which was years ago. So I picked up a couple of bottles and when I returned home looked for some Mead recipes.
Ingredients that you’ll need
So, let’s keep this simple. In order to make a Ransom Note Martini you’ll need gin. I happened to have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire at the house, but Hendrick’s is also a good gin. You’ll also need Mead and honey. I picked both of them of at Savannnah Bee Company. And finally, a lemon. If you don’t have fresh lemons don’t hesitate to use lemon juice. I think the best is ReaLemon.
You can’t make a great martini without a great shaker. I have at least a dozen but this one from OXO is by far my favorite. It doesn’t leak, and the cap is a measuring cup that will measure from 1/2 ounce to 1.5 ounces. And it is dishwasher safe. You can’t go wrong with OXO.
And don’t forget the chilled martini glass. Nothing is worse than a martini in a warm glass. Check out these 2 that I highly recommend. Joy Jolt set of 6 martini glasses in multi-colors and Crafthouse by Fortessa, set of 4 martini glasses. They are both dishwasher safe. Joy Jolt is a short martini glass, good for stacking in the freezer and the Crafthouse by Fortessa is tall and elegant, but it’s harder to find a good spot to lay it down in the freezer.

To make the Ransom Note Martini start by making the honey syrup. Just mix the honey with water. Pour the honey syrup, Gin, Mead and lemon juice into a shaker. Let it sit for a minute, shake for 15 seconds and pour it into a chilled martini glass. Now enjoy!
