  • Swiss Miss Instant Hot Chocolate Envelopes

I’ve tried generic Instant Hot Chocolate mix and Swiss Miss Instant Hot Chocolate mix, and there is no comparison. You should always use Swiss Miss if you want a genuine chocolate flavor.

To make your Jello Shots, you’ll need Jello Shot cups. Click here to learn the differences between the 3 different styles of Jello Shot cups. I use the squeezable Jello Shot cups in the main photo, the flat round Jello Shot cups above, and the square Jello Shot cups.

Large Spouted Mixing Bowl

The second most important item is a large mouth mixing bowl with a spout. The largemouth mixing bowl with a spout makes it easy to pour the liquid into the Jello Shot cups. I have seen ‘tools’ on Amazon that assist you with filling your Jello Shot cups, but the bowl with the spout works well. Of course, you may have a few drips here and there, but not enough for me to invest in a gadget.

How to make Hot Chocolate Jello Shots

Place 18 Jello Shot cups on a baking sheet.

Pour the Vodka and simple syrup into the spouted mixing bowl and sprinkle the gelatin on the top. Gelatin can be tricky to work with the first time you use it in a recipe. The secret is to ‘slowly’ sprinkle the gelatin on top of the liquid. If you see it clumping up, you are spreading it too quickly.

Let the gelatin mixture sit for 5 minutes. This seems like the longest process in this recipe. If you do have some dry patches, don’t worry. These Jello Shots will taste so good nobody will care that some gelatin didn’t dissolve.

In the meantime, boil the water. Add the boiling water and stir for two minutes. Then add the instant hot chocolate envelopes, 1 at a time to the gelatin mixture and stir well after each envelope.

Slowly pour the mixture into your Jello Shot cups until they are 3/4 full. Refrigerate 30 minutes and then place 3 mini marshmallows on the top of each Jello Shot cup, or if using the Jet Puffed bits, sprinkle them onto the Jello Shots.

Hot Chocolate Vodka Jello Shots

Refrigerate at least 2 hours before placing the cap on the Jello Shot cup. These Hot Chocolate Jell Shots can be made 2 days in advance and kept refrigerated until ready to serve.

Now Enjoy

Now that your Hot Chocolate Jello Shots are splendidly prepared, it’s time to savor them! The combination of rich, velvety chocolate, the subtle warmth of the vodka, and the sweet toppings make for a delightful treat. Take a moment to enjoy the flavors, and remember to savor the marshmallows for that perfect hot cocoa experience.

Hot Chocolate Jello Shots are a creative and fun twist on a classic winter beverage. Whether hosting a holiday party or simply seeking a unique way to warm up during the cold months, these jello shots will surely be a hit.
