Scare your Goblins with these Creepy Coconut Halloween Jello Shots
The secret to the creepy effect is simple but genius: cream of coconut. When mixed into the gelatin and chilled, the coconut naturally rises and forms a thin crust across the surface. Tinted with black food coloring, it looks like a ghostly veil frozen in time. It’s a simple trick that gets big reactions!
Plus, these Jello Shots are incredibly easy to make. You can substitute your favorite coconut rum or even a tropical coconut-flavored liqueur.

Tips
For flavored vodkas, I like both Veil and Pinnacle; they are both reasonably priced. If you can’t find Veil or Pinnacle, Cîroc makes a fantastic Coconut Vodka, but it is a bit more expensive.
I typically buy the Goya cream of coconut in the international section of my grocery store. Goya is less expensive than the coconut cream you would find in the drink mix section of the store.

Can I Use Rum Instead of Vodka in Jello Shots?
Of course, you can! You can substitute the vodka for Malibu or Blue Chair Bay Coconut rums, which are my two favorites for Jello Shots.
Need a great Cocktail Shaker but don’t know which one to buy? Look no further
Here is an awesome product to help YOU make the most incredible drinks. Impress your family and friends and be the BEST Cocktail Barista in your neighborhood.
Martini or cocktail, a good shake makes all the difference in the world so buying a cocktail shaker can seriously step up your at-home drink game. Think about it: no more settling for boring mixed drinks when you can whip up bar-quality cocktails in your kitchen. It’s not just about the fancy presentation (although that’s a fun bonus) but also about how it makes mixing drinks easier and more fun.
I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!
Plus, once you get the hang of shaking, you’ll feel like a total pro, impressing your friends and yourself with your newfound bartending skills. So why not add a little shake, shake, shake to your life and upgrade your happy hour?

Kitchenware

To make your Jello Shots, you’ll need Jello Shot cups. Click here to learn the differences between the 3 different styles of Jello Shot cups. I use the squeezable Jello Shot cups, the flat round Jello Shot cups above, and the square Jello Shot cups.

The second most important item is a large spouted mixing bowl with a handle. This bowl makes pouring the liquid into the Jello Shot cups easy. I have seen ‘tools’ on Amazon that assist you with filling your Jello Shot cups, but the bowl with the spout works well. Of course, you may have a few drips here and there, but I need more to invest in one of those tools.
How to Make Creepy Coconut Halloween Jello Shots
Place 18 Jello Shot cups on a baking sheet.
When first opened, the cream of coconut will be separated in the can. I pour it into a small-sized bowl and whisk until combined and smooth. The remaining cream of coconut can be refrigerated and kept for a week.
Pour the Vodka into the spouted mixing bowl and sprinkle the gelatin on the top. Gelatin can be tricky to work with the first time you use it in a recipe. The secret is to ‘slowly’ sprinkle the gelatin on top of the liquid. If you see it clumping up, you are spreading it too quickly.

Let the gelatin mixture sit for 7 minutes. If you do have some dry patches, don’t worry. Ensure your water is boiling for the next step.
In the meantime, boil the water. Add your Black Gel Food Coloring to the boiling water and stir until combined.
Then pour the water and food coloring mixture into the gelatin mixture and stir for 3 minutes.
Add the sweetened condensed milk and cream of coconut and stir until combined well.
Slowly pour the mixture into your Jello Shot cups until they are 3/4 full.
Refrigerate for 3 hours before placing the lids on the cups.
Happy Haunting! I hope your Halloween Party is frightfully fun and fantastic!

How Far in Advance Should you make Jello Shots?
Halloween party decorating is time-consuming, so you don’t want your food and drinks to be as well. These Jello Shots can be made 2 days in advance, leaving you time for other holiday preparations. Keep the Jello Shots refrigerated until you’re ready to serve to maintain their shape and texture.
Need a Double Batch?
These creepy coconut Jello Shots are haunting and eerie. They’ll look perfect on a Halloween decorated table and disappear fast. Do you need a double batch? If so, click the 2X on the recipe card, and the ingredients will be doubled instantly.
Love the decorations?

The Jello Shots are sitting on an 8-Pack Halloween Creepy Cloth containing white and black cloth. The black lace tablecloth hanging in the background is a 5 Pack Halloween kit. The kit includes lace table runner, table cover, lampshade cover, and bats. Both were reasonably priced.
