Spicy Hot Sausage Dip Substitution
This easy Hot Sausage Dip appetizer can be set to your own ‘heat’ level. I purchased the Jimmy Dean regular sausage and mild Rotel for my Valentine’s Day Party, but for my Superbowl Party, I went with the Jimmy Dean hot sausage and original Rotel.

How to Make Hot Sausage Dip
Take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator about an hour before use.

Start by browning the sausage in a frying pan over medium heat.
Cut the sausage into slices and break it up with a spatula as it cooks so you get small, crumbled pieces.
Cook until it’s nicely browned and fully cooked, approximately 10 minutes.

If you want to cook the Hot Sausage Dip in the oven, use an oven-safe serving dish or loaf pan. If you prefer to microwave the Hot Sausage Dip, use a microwave-safe bowl.
Add the cream cheese and Rotel to the chosen cookware. I’m using an oven-safe and microwave save serving dish.

With a slotted spoon, add the cooked sausage to the cream cheese and Rotel. This will remove the excess sausage grease.

Stir until combined well.

You Can Make the Dip in Advance: After combining all the ingredients, cover the dip and store it in the refrigerator for a day until ready to use. Remove the sausage dip from the refrigerator approximately 20 minutes before heating.
Then….
Bake in the Oven: Bake for approximately 25 minutes at 350 degrees or until the cream cheese is bubbly around the edges.
or
Microwave: Microwave the Sausage Dip, stirring every 45 seconds, until hot.
or
Crockpot Friendly: If you’re making this dip for a large crowd or want to keep it warm, transfer it to a crock pot and turn it to medium-high until the dip bubbles. Then, put it on the low setting. Stir occasionally to keep it creamy.
Serves 4 to 6 people as an appetizer.

Sausage dip made with sausage, Rotel tomatoes, and cream cheese is easy and delicious. With just a few minutes of prep, you’ll have a savory, creamy dip that everyone will love. Be ready to share the recipe because once your guests get a taste, they’ll also want to make it for their next party!
Enjoy your next gathering with this go-to dip!
