The 5-minute Herbed Goat Cheese Appetizer: Perfect for you next party
This quick and delicious herbed goat cheese appetizer recipe goes great with so many cocktails! Serve it when your best friend comes over for a martini or at your next party.
When I plan a party, I head straight to the cheese section of my local grocery store. Goat cheese is one of my favorite cheeses and is known to have a mild, earthy, tart flavor, likened to cream cheese. Rosemary, an aromatic herb, is used in this herbed goat cheese appetizer to compliment the taste of the cheese.

Goat cheese tastes great and has many healthy reasons to eat it. The healthy reason for serving goat cheese is that it is loaded with much more vitamins and minerals when compared to cow cheese. It also has fewer calories, is higher in calcium, and is easier for your stomach to digest (for lactose intolerant people).
Goat cheese was also noted as the #4 cheese in a post listing the top 10 healthiest kinds of cheese.

Besides tasting great and healthy, you can prepare this goat cheese appetizer in advance. If I’m having a party, the last thing I want is an appetizer that must be prepared as guests arrive. I like to have appetizers ready in the refrigerator and pitchers of the most popular drinks made in advance.
I’ve had my share of party disasters. The panic that sets in when guests arrive 30 minutes early. The desperation when Publix does not have my catering trays and can’t prepare them last minute. Burning chicken wings in the oven because I was mixing cocktails instead of watching the oven.
Ingredients you’ll need to make this Herbed Goat Cheese appetizer

To make this herbed goat cheese appetizer you will need goat cheese, rosemary, garlic paste, olive oil, salt and pepper. I serve this appetizer on French Bread rounds, but it also tastes great on crackers.

How to make the Herbed Goat Cheese appetizer

I like to use fresh rosemary in my recipe but if you can’t find any at the grocery store you can use dried rosemary as well. If using fresh rosemary, pull the needles off of the stem, and discard the stem.

I love these mixing bowls and measuring cups from OXO. They are both dishwasher safe. The mixing bowls have a rubber bottom and spout and come in a set of three. The measuring cups are nested and come in seven sizes. As you can see from the photo above, I’m using the small mixing bowl (1.5 quart).

Add the cheese, rosemary, garlic paste, oil, salt and pepper to a small bowl and mix well.

The Herbed Goat Cheese appetizer will have a mashed potato consistency. Put the combined mixture into a serving bowl. You can make this one day in advance, cover and refrigerate. The recipe can be made for two, when your best friend comes over for a martini or for a small party.

Here’s a Tip
Take the herbed goat cheese out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you are ready to use it. It will soften up and will become easier to spread. I like to serve it with French Bread rounds, but it tastes great on crackers as well.
Having a party? Here are some other easy make-ahead appetizers

Over the years, lessons learned have taught me to serve what can be made or bought in advance, so even if people are excited to start the party early, it won’t throw me for a loop.
So, if you don’t want that ‘deer in headlights’ look as your guests arrive early, prepare this goat cheese appetizer in advance. Just pull it out of the refrigerator and serve it with a smile.
