Broken Spanish

I discovered this Broken Spanish cocktail at Calacas Mexican Cuisine in Nashville, TN. It had a unique ingredient, Falernum and it piqued my curiosity. Falernum is a liqueur produced in Barbados, and has a unique but delicious flavor, making this drink one of my favorites!

To make a Broken Spanish you’ll need vodka, Cointreau, passion fruit juice and agave. The main ingredient here is the Falernum, a Barbados liqueur. At first I thought it would be hard to find but Total Wine, had it in stock. Lucky me!

OXO Steel Cocktail Shaker

Martini or cocktail, I find that a good shake makes all the difference in the world. I have at least a dozen shakers but this one from OXO is by far my favorite. It doesn’t leak, and the cap is a measuring cup that will measure from 1/2 ounce to 1.5 ounces. And it is dishwasher safe! You can’t go wrong with OXO.

And don’t forget the glasses. This drink is meant to be enjoyed outside in the beautiful summer weather. You don’t want to take glass on the boat or by the pool so these 20 ounce acrylic glasses (shown above) are perfect for any out door occasion. Keep in mind that you can put a ‘double’, 2 portions of the Broken Spanish in the 20 ounce glass. If you are looking for a single serving, the 15 ounce acrylic glasses (shown below) are a better choice. Remember, add lots of ice!
