Broken Spanish

Broken Spanish – An awe inspiring truly memorable taste! Island flavor with a Spanish twist!

I discovered this Broken Spanish cocktail at Calacas Mexican Cuisine in Nashville, TN. It had a unique ingredient, Falernum and it piqued my curiosity. Falernum is a liqueur produced in Barbados, and has a unique but delicious flavor, making this drink one of my favorites!

You can’t mix a great cocktail or martini without a great shaker. I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!

And don’t forget the glasses. This drink is meant to be enjoyed outside in the beautiful summer weather. You don’t want to take glass on the boat or by the pool so these 20 ounce acrylic glasses (shown below) are perfect for any outdoor occasion. Keep in mind that you can put a ‘double’, 2 portions of the Broken Spanish in the 20 ounce glass.

If you are looking for a single serving, the 14 ounce acrylic glasses (shown above) are a better choice. Remember, add lots of ice!

How to make a Broken Spanish

Pour the vodka, Falernum, Cointreau, passion fruit juice, lime juice and agave into a shaker half filled with ice. Shake for 5 seconds and pour the strained liquid into a glass filled with ice. Enjoy!
