While in Curacao, we visited the Distillery known for producing the iconic blue liqueur the island is known for: Blue Curacao. The rounded shape of the bottle represents the Valencia orange, and the neck represents its stem. Apparently, if you buy Curacao liqueur and the bottle is in a different shape, it is not a genuine article. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find ‘the original,’ so DeKuyper Blue Curacao works well.

You can add another 1/2 ounce of simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter cocktail.

How to Make a Blue Island Iced Tea

Combine the Vodka, Rum, Gin, Blue Curacao, simple syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker half full of ice.

Shake well for 15-20 seconds until the mixture is cold.

Pour the strained contents of the shaker into a glass of ice. I’m using Waterford Highball glasses, but these acrylic glasses are great if you’re headed out by the pool.

Garnish with a slice of lime.
