Lemon Drop Martinis don’t just taste fabulous—they’re also refreshing and packed with vitamin C. With just three simple ingredients, it’s like having a “healthy” martini in your hand. It’s my go-to cocktail, and whether you’re a seasoned mixologist or just enjoy mixing drinks at home, the Lemon Drop Martini is definitely one to try.

I have a tiny Meyer Lemon tree, and I sometimes use its lemons for my Lemon Drop Martinis. It’s like adding sunshine to your shaker! There’s something incredibly satisfying about plucking a bright, zesty lemon from your little tree and knowing it’s destined for cocktail greatness.

The sweet-tart pop of fresh juice transforms a good martini into a wow-level drink, bursting with backyard-grown flavor. Whether your lemon tree thrives on a sunny patio or in a cozy garden, it reminds you that cocktail hour can begin with dirt, love, and citrusy joy.

Lemon Drop Martini Ingredients

Lemon Drop Martini Ingredients
Lemon Drop Martini Ingredients
  1. Lemon Flavored Vodka
  2. Non-alcoholic Triple Sec Syrup
  3. Lemon Juice
  4. Slice of lemon and Sugar for Garnish

Tips

  • What Vodka Should I Use: You will need a good citrus vodka. I’ve tried numerous brands, but I always return to Absolut Citron. Ketel One Citroen would be my second choice.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Freshly squeezed lemon juice is a must. Bottled lemon juice doesn’t have the same vibrant, fresh flavor.
  • Non-alcoholic Triple Sec Syrups are not Equal: As you can see from my photo, I have 2 different non-alcoholic triple-sec syrups. The Fee Brothers on the left is my favorite, but it is difficult to find. A good alternative is the Cocktail Artist Triple Sec Syrup on the right.
  • Balance the Sweetness: Adjust the amount of Triple Sec syrup to suit your taste. More Triple Sec syrup results in a sweeter martini while less creates a tarter one.
  • Chill Thoroughly: Make sure your ingredients and glass are well chilled. A chilled martini is much more enjoyable.

Bar Tools

Here are awesome products to help YOU make the most incredible drinks. Impress your family and friends and be the BEST Cocktail Barista in your neighborhood.

Need a great Cocktail Shaker but don’t know which one to buy? Look no further

Martini or cocktail, a good shake makes all the difference in the world so buying a cocktail shaker can seriously step up your at-home drink game. Think about it: no more settling for boring mixed drinks when you can whip up bar-quality cocktails in your kitchen. It’s not just about the fancy presentation (although that’s a fun bonus) but also about how it makes mixing drinks easier and more fun.

I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!

Plus, once you get the hang of shaking, you’ll feel like a total pro, impressing your friends and yourself with your newfound bartending skills. So why not add a little shake, shake, shake to your life and upgrade your happy hour?

The Right Glass Matters

The martini glass adds that classic, cocktail-hour feel without needing anything over the top. I like using a simple cut-glass style because it feels a little special, but still practical for everyday use. Even though it says “hand wash only,” I’ll admit—I usually stick mine on the top rack of the dishwasher and call it a day.

Chill Your Glass, Elevate Your Sip

Martini Glasses in Freezer
Martini Glasses in Freezer

For the perfect frosty sip, chilling your martini glasses is a must! Simply tuck your glasses into the freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving. I like to lay mine down in the ice bucket, cushioned with shelf liner fabric so they don’t slip or scratch. When it’s cocktail time, you’ll have beautifully chilled glasses ready to make every sip crisp and refreshing.

How to Make a Lemon Drop Martini

For an extra frosty martini, chill your glass in the freezer for about 15 minutes before preparing your cocktail.

Add the lemon vodka, non-alcoholic triple sec, and lemon juice to a shaker half full of ice. Let it sit for one minute while you rim the martini glass.

How to Rim a Martini Glass with Sugar

To sugar the rim of your glass, rub a piece of lemon around the rim and place the glass face down in the sugar.

Now Enjoy the 3 Ingredient Lemon Drop Martini

Vigorously shake the cocktail shaker for 15 seconds, then pour the strained ingredients into the chilled and rimmed martini glass.

Tips

Adjusting the ingredients based on your taste preference is also easy. For example, reduce the lemon juice if the recipe is too tart; if it’s too sweet, reduce the non-alcoholic triple sec. And if it tastes too strong, you didn’t let the drink get “it’s melt on.” You need to let it sit in the shaker for one minute. That’s the secret.
