The Cosmo – the wildly popular flamboyantly stylish libation
The Cosmopolitan, or Cosmo, is a Martini made with Vodka, Cointreau, lime, and cranberry juice. And for me, a Cosmo is synonymous with ‘Sex in the City.’ I’ll admit, I watched the show. I watched the show faithfully every week.
And I’ve been hooked on Cosmo Martinis ever since.

Ingredients you’ll need to make a Cosmo

- Vodka
- Cointreau
- Non-alcoholic Triple Sec
- Lime Juice
- Cranberry Juice
Tips
I found this excellent non-alcoholic triple sec syrup. Try it here. It will cost more than what you would pay at the grocery store or Walmart but it’s really nice.
When it comes to cranberry juice, not all juice is created equal. If you want a pink color, use the Cranberry Juice Cocktail and not the 100% Cranberry Juice. The Cranberry Juice Cocktail from Ocean Spray has a nice red color that will make your martini pink.

Bar Tools
Here is an awesome product to help YOU make the most incredible drinks. Impress your family and friends and be the BEST Cocktail Barista in your neighborhood.

You can’t mix a great martini without a great shaker. I have at least a dozen shakers, but one favorite. The shaker doesn’t leak; you won’t have to hit the shaker against the sink to get the top off, and the cap will measure from 1/2 to 1.5 ounces with clearly marked labels. Measure the perfect amount every time. And it is dishwasher safe!
And don’t forget the chilled martini glass. Nothing is worse than a martini in a warm glass. Check out these 2 that I recommend. Joy Jolt set of 6 martini glasses in multi-colors and Crafthouse by Fortessa, set of 4 martini glasses. They are both dishwasher-safe. Joy Jolt is a short martini glass, great for stacking in the freezer, and the Crafthouse by Fortessa is tall and elegant. Still, finding a safe spot to lay it down in the freezer is harder.
How to make a Cosmo
Pour the Vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and lime juice into a shaker half full of ice and let it sit for a minute. Shake well and pour the strained ingredients into a chilled martini glass.

The Cosmo has a sweet and tart taste, with the flavor of cranberry shining through.
