Smoked Salmon with Crispy Shallots – An Easy Irresistible Appetizer
Smoked Salmon with Crispy Shallots is the kind of appetizer that feels elegant but is surprisingly easy to prepare. It’s a blend of creamy, crispy, and smoky flavors that will have your guests reaching for seconds (and thirds!).

12Multigrain Crackers
Instructions
Make the Sour Cream Topping
Whisk the sour cream, chopped dill, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir until smooth, then set aside.
Fry the Shallots
Melt the butter and the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the thinly sliced shallots and fry, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, 5 – 8 minutes.
Transfer the shallots to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt for extra flavor. Shallot pieces will crisp as they cool.
Assemble the Smoke Salmon Appetizer
Arrange the crackers on a plate. Spread a thin layer of dilled cream over each cracker.
Place a small piece of smoked salmon on each cracker.
Add a dollop of the sour cream mixture on top of the salmon.
Sprinkle with the crispy shallots for the finishing touch.
Serve immediately to keep the crackers crunchy and the shallots crisp.
Notes
Choose the Right Crackers: Look for crackers that are sturdy and neutral in flavor. I prefer whole-grain crackers.
Make Ahead: You can fry the shallots and prepare the sour cream mixture a few hours before. Just store them separately and assemble the appetizers right before serving.
Experiment with Garnishes: Add a few capers or a tiny sprig of dill on top for extra flair.
