Shopping List
- 1 750 ml Vodka, Rum, or Whiskey in your favorite flavor
- 1 1 oz Box of Knox Gelatine The box contains 4 envelopes of gelatin
- 1 Pound Granulated Sugar
- 1 14 oz Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 .7 oz Burnt Orange Gel Food Color
- 1 .7 oz Black Gel Food Color
For the First Color
- 1 Cup Vodka, Rum, or Whiskey
- 6 Tablespoons Sugar
- 2 Envelopes Gelatin
- 1 Cup Boiling water
- 2 Tablespoons Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1/2 Teaspoon Burnt Orange Gel Food Coloring
For the Second Color
- 1 Cup Same Liquor as the first color above
- 6 Tablespoons Sugar
- 2 Envelopes Gelatin
- 1 Cup Boiling Water
- 2 Tablespoons Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1/2 Teaspoon Black Gel Food Coloring
Instructions
First Color
- Place 26 – 2 oz Jello Shot cups on a baking sheet
- Pour the liquor into a large, spouted mixing bowl
- Slowly sprinkle the gelatin on top of the liquor, making sure to sprinkle it evenly across the top of the liquid
- Let the gelatin absorb the liquid for 7 minutes
- In the meantime, add the water and sugar to a small saucepan and heat on low, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves
- Then bring the water and sugar mixture to a simmer
- Add the burnt orange gel food coloring to the water mixture and stir until well combined
- Add the water mixed with the food color to the gelatin mix and stir until the gelatin is dissolved, at least 3 minutes
- Now add the sweetened condensed milk and stir well
- Pour the mixture into the Jello Shot cups until they are 1/2 full
- Refrigerate the 1/2 full Jello Shot cups for 1 hour before starting the second layer
Second Color
- Pour the liquor into a large, spouted mixing bowl
- Slowly sprinkle the gelatin on top of the liquor, making sure to sprinkle it evenly across the top of the liquid
- Let the gelatin absorb the liquid for 7 minutes
- In the meantime, add the water and sugar to a small saucepan and heat on low, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves
- Then bring the water and sugar mixture to a simmer
- Add the black gel food coloring to the water mixture and stir until well combined
- Add the water mixed with the food color to the gelatin mix and stir until the gelatin is dissolved, at least 3 minutes
- Now add the sweetened condensed milk and stir well
- Let the mixture cool for 10 minutes then stir
- Top off the refrigerated Jello Shots with the second Team color
- Refrigerate at least 3 hours before placing the caps on the Jello Shot cups
- Serve Chilled. Can be made 2 days in advance
Notes
Tips
Jello Shot consistency is a matter of personal preference. This recipe will make firm and wiggly Jello Shots. If you prefer a softer, more jiggly Jello Shot, add 1 additional ounce of liquor and 1 extra ounce of water.
If you want a darker color, add a tablespoon of hot water and 1/4 teaspoon of gel food coloring to a small bowl and stir until combined. Then, add the food coloring mixture to your gelatin mixture and mix well.
